How To Double Your Piano’s Life Expectancy?

What can you do to extend the life of your piano?

There are several things you can do to extend the life of your piano:

Keep your piano in a stable environment

Pianos love being at 42% humidity, so it’s crucial to keep your instrument in a room with stable climate conditions. In addition, you should avoid placing your piano near windows or doors, as this can expose it to sudden temperature changes. Make sure to sunlight is not hitting your piano either,

Protect it from damage

This one might be obvious, but it is still important. A good rule of thumb is to keep drinks, food or heavy objects away from your piano. Also, if you need to move your piano, hire a professional mover to avoid damaging it. You can also check out YouTube videos on how to do it properly.

Get regular tune-ups

I know this is a no brainer, but pianos need to be tuned regularly to maintain their sound quality. Have your piano tuned at least twice a year to ensure that it stays in good working order.

Install a Dampp-Chaser System

You can also install a Dampp-Chaser System, which is a specialized humidifier/dehumidifier called “The Piano Life Saver.” This device is designed specifically for pianos, uprights or grands, and can help maintain the right level of humidity in your home to protect your instrument. I can’t recommend this enough!

What is Dampp-Chaser Piano Life Saver? A Magic Pill For Your Piano?

The Piano Life Saver is a two-part system that includes a humidifier and a dehumidifier. The humidifier adds moisture to the air inside the piano, while the dehumidifier removes excess moisture. This helps to maintain the ideal humidity level for your piano, which is between 40% and 50%.

The Dampp-Chasers’ system is not a magic pill. However, these systems are easy to install, very easy to use and will maintain the right humidity level for your piano. It is also energy-efficient and will help extend the life of your piano by protecting it from the damaging effects of changes in temperature and humidity.
